The Unscripted Love Story Project
Official Rules
Last updated: October 6, 2026
- Sponsor. The contest is run by Taewoo Lee, operating as TAYU Films (“I”, “me”). Contact: hello@tayufilms.ca.
- No purchase necessary. Entering, and being chosen, does not require buying anything or booking any service.
- Eligibility. Open to couples where both people are at least 18 years old and legal residents of British Columbia. The film must be made within the sponsor’s Zone 1 or Zone 2 travel areas listed at tayufilms.ca. The sponsor’s immediate family members are not eligible.
- Entry periods. Period 1: October 15 to November 15, 2026. Period 2: November 16 to December 15, 2026. Period 3: December 16, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Period 4: January 16 to February 15, 2027. Entries close at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the closing date.
- How to enter. Complete the entry form at tayufilms.ca/story. One entry per couple for the whole contest. Entries not chosen are automatically carried forward to the following entry periods. Incomplete, illegible or automated entries are not eligible.
- Judging. After each entry period, the sponsor reviews all eligible entries and chooses one couple using these criteria: the heart and sincerity of the story (50%), specific, personal detail (30%), and suitability for a conversation-based documentary film (20%). Ties are decided by the earlier entry. The sponsor’s decisions are final.
- Chances. The chances of being chosen depend on the number and quality of eligible entries received in each period.
- Prizes. Five prizes in total: four monthly prizes (one per entry period) and one grand prize (section 9). Each monthly prize is one Prologue film (a love story film): about one hour of filming at the couple’s home or another location in the eligible travel area, and a 3 to 4 minute edited film delivered digitally. Approximate retail value: CAD $699 each (CAD $2,796 for the four monthly prizes; total approximate value of all prizes CAD $4,746). Travel within the eligible area is included. The prize must be filmed within 90 days of notification, or before the couple’s wedding date if that is sooner, on a mutually agreed date. No cash alternative; not transferable.
- Grand prize. One grand prize: one The Chapter wedding film (up to 5 hours of coverage, a 3 to 4 minute documentary film and 15 short clips), approximate retail value CAD $1,950. Travel within the eligible area is included. No cash alternative; not transferable.
- Eligibility. Entrants who ticked the grand prize box on the entry form, with a wedding date in 2027 that is not a Saturday between May 1 and October 31, in the Zone 1 or Zone 2 travel area. Couples who have already won a monthly prize are not eligible for the grand prize.
- Selection. After February 15, 2027, the sponsor chooses one couple from all eligible entries using the judging criteria in section 6. The winner is announced by February 22, 2027. The skill-testing question in section 10 applies.
- Confirmation. The winner must confirm the wedding date and location within 14 days of notification. If the wedding date later moves to an ineligible date, or the wedding can’t be filmed, the sponsor will try to find a solution with the couple, but there is no cash alternative.
- Skill-testing question. Before being confirmed as a winner, a selected entrant must correctly answer, without assistance, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question by email or phone.
- Notification. Selected couples are contacted by email within 7 days after the entry period closes and must reply within 7 days. If a couple can’t be reached, doesn’t answer the skill-testing question correctly, or is otherwise ineligible, another eligible entry may be chosen.
- Use of the film. By entering, entrants agree that if chosen, the film and stills from it may be used in the sponsor’s portfolio, website and social media. Winners may ask the sponsor to remove their film from the website and social media at any time, and the sponsor will do so within a reasonable time.
- Finalist offer. The sponsor may offer some non-winning entrants an optional booking offer (The Prologue included at no extra cost when The Feature or The Chapter is booked within 30 days of the offer). This offer is separate from the prizes and is not required to enter or win.
- Privacy. Personal information is used to run the contest and, only for entrants who opt in, to send occasional emails. See tayufilms.ca/privacy.
- Social media. This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook or Meta. Entrants release these platforms from any liability.
- Changes. The sponsor may modify, suspend or cancel the contest if it cannot run as planned for reasons beyond the sponsor’s control, subject to applicable law.
- Law. These rules are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
